From sips 'n' sights on tall timber-lined ocean trails to pack rafting down a tranquil river and 60,000 years of Wadandi tradition, these are the wildest new activities in Australia's South West.

Ngilgi Cave Ancient Lands (Yallingup, Margaret River Region)
Set above-ground at the site of the historic Ngilgi Cave, the Ancient Lands Experience takes visitors on a journey to discover 600 million years of stories associated with the Margaret River Region and its people. The new $3.6 million attraction officially opened in November 2023, and offers a series of interactive installations woven throughout the natural bushland, paying homage to the landscape and the 60,000-year custodianship of the Wadandi people. Visitors seeking a deeper cultural experience can explore Wadandi country with traditional custodian Josh Whiteland from Koomal Dreaming at a new purpose-built Meeting Place.

Forage Safaris (Margaret River Region)
Forage Safaris has launched the first ever truffle tours in the Margaret River Region! These unforgettable winter truffle hunts operate in a picturesque orchard, with trained dogs Alby and Taz digging for prized Perigord truffles – often referred to as 'black gold'. A standard 45-minute or premium 2-hour option is available, with the latter including the opportunity to dig for your own truffle and a light truffle-infused lunch.

Forage Safaris has also launched a Sunset Wine Experience featuring private tastings, vineyard food pairings, and a guided winery tour. End the evening with a gourmet picnic at sunset overlooking the Indian Ocean. This exclusive, seasonal tour blends local flavour, stunning scenery, and unforgettable luxury from afternoon to dusk.

WOW Wilderness Adventures (Walpole, Southern Forests & Valleys Region)
WOW Wilderness EcoAdventures is the newest tour offering in Australia's South West. Based in Walpole, the Pedal and Paddle is a full-day adventure that blends the best of land and water in the Valley of the Giants and along the Frankland River. Guests explore by mountain bike and packraft, swapping pedals for paddles to take in the incredible landscapes from two unique perspectives.

South Peak Adventures (Albany, Great Southern Region)
For those seeking adventure experiences, South Peak Adventure has recently launched the Ridge Walk, guided treks on a challenging and unmarked trail over the rugged mountain peaks between Bluff Knoll and Ellen Peake in the Stirling Range National Park, near Albany.

Cape 2 Camp (Margaret River and Great Southern Regions)
Cape2Camp has launched a unique self-guided and fully catered hike and tenting experience on the Cape to Cape and Bibbulmun Tracks. Travellers looking to take on sections of the iconic walking trails can do so without extensive planning — just arrive, carry a day pack and enjoy the spectacular views. Camping equipment, transfers, plus food and drinks from the region are included. Hikers will have their camp set up at various locations, allowing for starlit dinners and a comfortable night's sleep on a quality mattress. The Cape to Cape Track hiking experiences take place in the southern half of the Margaret River Region, while the Bibbulmun Track product explores Denmark to Peaceful Bay.

Aerial Adventures (Pemberton, Southern Forests & Valleys Region)
An aerial ropes adventure course opened in 2024 among the giant karri trees in Gloucester National Park. Aerial Adventures is a multi-level treetop experience with high ropes and an all-glide-line — including a 100-metre flying fox — reaching up to 25 metres in the trees. This iconic national park is famed for the Gloucester Tree, a former fire lookout that visitors can climb 61 metres to the top! A new cafe overlooking the iconic Gloucester Tree is opening at the end of this month.

Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse (Margaret River Region)
The Lightkeepers' Museum opened at Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse in 2024, welcoming an unique interpretive centre housed in one of the lightkeepers' original cottages. The museum showcases the history of the lighthouse and region, including the Wadandi people's 60,000-year custodianship and the influence of weather and whaling, which set the scene for enthralling stories of shipwrecks and lightning storms. The opening of the Lightkeepers' Museum is the final part of the Capes Foundation's five-year redevelopment project at Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse.

Adventure Connections (Collie, Bunbury Geographe Region)
Collie based tour company Adventure Connections has welcomed a tour and hire hub in Wellington National Park. The hub offers adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers a range of guided tours on the picturesque Wambenger Trails, as well as equipment hire and mountain bike shuttle services into and around the park. The guided tours include e-bike, hiking and kayak tours, with equipment hire for each also available. The WA Government has invested more than $40 million into mountain bike trail development since 2019.

Off The Beaten Track (Denmark, Great Southern Region)
Embark on an award-winning gourmet adventure with Off The Beaten Track. Sip, Sights & Denmark Delights explores majestic forests, coastal views, and hidden bays. The hike is rated for beginners and complemented with artisan chocolate, local cheeses, fine wines, and lunch at The Dam. The naturally wild stars of the show are the Valley of the Giants Treetop Walk and a grazing experience at William Bay National Park icons Greens Pool and Elephant Rocks.

REDSEA Gallery (Margaret River township, Margaret River Region)
Opening in March 2024, REDSEA Gallery is a contemporary art gallery housed in a revitalised century-old heritage building on the main street in Margaret River town. It showcases a collection of paintings, sculpture, glass, ceramics and x-ray art. The first REDSEA Gallery was opened in Singapore, featuring global and Australian artists. The expansion to WA allows exhibitions and artworks to be seen in both Singapore and the Margaret River Region, exposing local, national and international artists to more art lovers.

Busselton Jetty (Busselton, Margaret River Region)
The iconic Busselton Jetty has welcomed the family-friendly Marine Discovery Centre to its otherworldly offerings. The 30-minute indoor, interactive experience gives visitors the opportunity to drive a virtual submarine, make their own fish habitat, hear the mesmerising calls of whales in the open ocean and more. The centre is in the Railway House Ballarat Room, helping visitors who don't have the time to take the 1.8 kilometre train journey to the end of the jetty, but want to discover what lies underneath the longest timber-piled jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. This new experience complements the more adventurous Underwater Sculpture Trail, including 13 underwater sculptures at the end of the jetty. This submerged experience is for divers, swimmers and snorkellers, with special signage and maps provided for the underwater journey. This new artificial reef has created new habitat for local marine wildlife, with hundreds of species already surveyed.

On Track MTB (Margaret River Region)
On Track MTB has launched a half-day scenic e-bike tour on Margaret River's Wadandi Track, which follows the former Busselton to Flinders Bay railway track. The terrain on this adventure is mostly flat gravel track, making it ideal for a leisurely 25 kilometre ride. The tour starts in Cowaramup and journeys through vistas of open farmland, vineyards and granite rock – abundant with wildlife – before finishing at Dear Darnell's in Witchcliffe for lunch. After lunch and a spot of wine tasting, guests and their bikes are picked up without the worry of riding home.

Rosa Glen Farm (Rosa Glen, Margaret River Region)
Rosa Glen Farm produces small-batch, artisanal wines crafted with minimal intervention. Embracing sustainability and seasonal variation, they reject mass production to create wines that reflect nature's rhythm and thrive in harmony with the environment. Farm tours include a 1.5-hour walk among the vines, learning about how the grapes are grown and the creative process of natural winemaking – followed by a selection of local cheese at the eclectic baravan (yes, a caravan bar!).

Oceania Experiences (Dunsborough, Margaret River Region)
Discover the beauty of Australia's South West on a Dunsborough Boat & Snorkel Tour. Launching in late 2024, these high-speed eco tours offer the chance to explore vibrant marine life, hidden caves, and iconic landmarks such as Cape Naturaliste and Meelup Beach. Expert guides share stories about the region's unique geology and maritime history. There is also the chance to sight dolphins and Australia's biggest seasonal migration of humpback whales – and an increasing number of blue whales.

Floating Sauna Pemberton (Southern Forests & Valleys Region)
The team from Floating Sauna Lake Derby is bringing their latest wellness offering to Pemberton in Australia's South West. The pontoon will float amongst the region's famed ancient, towering forests this winter, offering the ultimate in serene relaxation.

Tannin Road (Margaret River Region)
Launching in late 2023, Tannin Road leads premium tours in the Margaret River Region. Small groups of no more than ten visit top wineries, breweries, and artisan chocolate and ice cream producers, tasting the region's finest.  These tours prioritise regional stories entwined with immersive experiences rich in flavour and scenery.

Eclipse Expeditions (Margaret River Region)
Eclipse Expeditions is a boutique cruise charter that started offering multi-day tours of the Kimberley for the 2024 season, and launched in the Margaret River Region for the first time over summer. On the new South West Safari guests will sail through crystal waters, hike the Cape to Cape Track, and experience world-class wineries onboard a brand-new vessel — a sailing catamaran equipped with four ensuite queen cabins, a main deck and sun lounge.

Scenic Helicopters (Great Southern Region)
Scenic Helicopters has launched a number of new Albany tours to showcase the region's spectacular coastline from above, and its outstanding wineries and restaurants. The Breaksea Island & Eclipse Island Discovery Tour takes guests across the stunning Torndirrup Peninsula, landing on Breaksea Island to discover the fascinating WWI history. The Great Southern Helicopter Winery Experience is an exclusive wine-tasting helicopter tour, landing at three premier wineries, and; The Wine Connoisseur: Frankland River offers a truly bespoke wine tasting experience of the region.

RedSands Campers (across Australia's South West)

2024 was a big year for the innovative team behind RedSands Campers, the 4WD specialists in road tripping Australia's South West.
