Reef Unlimited makes waves in Cairns with Aquarius II

Experience Co

Experience Co. is expanding its fleet with the acquisition of Aquarius II, a bespoke dive vessel aimed at the growing cruise and charter market in Tropical North Queensland.

The new 24m, 240-passenger Aquarius II will operate under the Reef Unlimited brand and will enhance the company's special events and charter offerings, including business events.

It will also provide additional capacity for Reef Unlimited's popular half and full-day Reef tours from Cairns and Port Douglas which visit the company's Reef Magic platform at Moore Reef as well as Green Island and Fitzroy Island.

Experience Co. Chief Executive John O'Sullivan said: “Our marine business is showing some really strong results - our domestic customers remain excited about coming to this region to visit one of Australia's iconic destinations and international business is returning. There's good demand for our reef business and we believe Cairns will continue to grow as a tourist drawcard.”

Aquarius II will offer three levels of spacious comfort for guests with a large sundeck and shaded areas as well as a fully air-conditioned saloon and bar area.  There is also a sizable food service area with a large cool storage facility allowing for hot and cold buffet catering as well as onboard Starlink Wi-Fi all of which make it an easy choice for special events and bespoke charters.

The vessel is also equipped with a spacious hydraulic platform for easy water access and an in-built air compressor, perfect for guests who want to enjoy snorkelling and scuba diving in the renowned Great Barrier Reef.

Tourism Tropical North Queensland chief Executive Officer Mark Olsen welcomed the additional vessel and boost for the region.

“We're delighted that Experience Co has chosen to invest in additional capacity for continued tourism growth in this region. The launch of Aquarius II demonstrates the ongoing commitment from Experience Co. to this region and enhances our reputation as an adventure tourism destination offering authentic experiences with connections to people and nature.”

Aquarius II will also serve the growing cruise market in the region.

Jill Abel, CEO of Australian Cruise Association said: “This commitment from Experience Co to Tropical North Queensland reinforces how important Cairns is as a cruise destination. It's exciting to see the introduction of a new vessel to service ship to shore transfers as well as enhancing the excursion offerings for passengers.”
