The Crocodile Hunter Lodge, Australia Zoo's luxe accommodation, is proud to unveil its newest double-storey cabins, the Crocodile Cabins, overlooking freshwater crocodiles and turtles in a new state-of-the-art habitat!

Inspired by Steve Irwin's passion for wild places, The Crocodile Hunter Lodge offers a serene overnight experience, allowing guests to reconnect with nature. These four new cabins offer an ideal retreat, where guests can experience the wild side of luxury in a peaceful, natural setting.

The two-storey Crocodile Cabins feature expansive windows that offer breathtaking views of the freshwater crocodile habitat, home to the endangered Mary River turtles, and a spectacular five-metre (16 foot) waterfall, a central feature of the natural pond. 

Wildlife conservationist Terri Irwin said, "The new Crocodile Cabins at The Crocodile Hunter Lodge are phenomenal! With a scenic view of pristine bushland and a spacious deck overlooking Australia Zoo's freshwater crocodiles and turtles, we are thrilled to offer guests a stunning, luxurious getaway." 

"Several of the freshwater crocodiles were rescued from the threat of poaching by Steve himself. We are so proud to provide these Australia Zoo residents with a wonderful new home at The Crocodile Hunter Lodge," said Terri. 

"A unique feature of the Crocodile Cabins is the hand-crafted door that greet guests as they enter, made from the original crocodile grandstands that Steve built at Australia Zoo," she said. 

The Crocodile Cabins feature two spacious bedrooms accommodating up to four guests, a fully equipped kitchen, a luxurious bathroom featuring a stone bathtub and underfloor heating, an exclusive viewing area overlooking the freshwater crocodiles, and a private undercover car space. 

The new cabins also feature a temperature-controlled plunge pool on the lower deck, allowing guests to oversee the animal billabong while unwinding in their own. It's the ultimate getaway at their relaxing home away from home!

The Crocodile Hunter Lodge provides a sanctuary for both wild animals and critically endangered plant species. During construction, a mob of eastern grey kangaroos moved in and have since made the lodge their home. They are often spotted grazing outside the cabins, greeting guests each morning!

To celebrate the native plant life, the lodge planted three critically endangered Coochin Hills grevillea, which are naturally found on the peak of the Glasshouse Mountains, and the rare Struck Oil Myrtle, another Queensland native with a limited range. Both species have now found a new home at the lodge!
